HVAC Service Technician Apprenticeships

HVAC Service Technicians maintain, diagnose, and correct problems in HVAC systems. They also work on many mechanical components of a heating system, including compressors, pumps, duct, fans, and thermostats. They also:

  • Adjust system controls to recommended settings, and test the performance of entire heating & cooling systems
  • Perform some ductwork installation and wiring of environmental systems to meet code standards

Entrance Requirements
HVAC Service Technician applicants must have a high school diploma or equivalent, and must meet required norms on aptitude tests. Instruction in high school classes such as mathematics, mechanical drawing, and industrial arts is helpful.

Working Conditions
HVAC Service Technicians work both indoors and outdoors. This work requires a considerable amount of bending, lifting, and standing.
