Sprinklerfitter Apprenticeships

Sprinklerfitters are pipe fitting specialists in fire protection. They install, repair, and maintain all types of fixed extinguishing systems. While most work deals directly with automatic sprinkler systems, they also have the skills necessary to install and service a wide variety of other fire protection equipment such as standpipes, carbon dioxide systems, halon systems, foam systems, and dry chemical systems.

 

This is a five year program working side-by-side with a Journeyman Sprinkler Fitter. On the job training is provided and correspondence work is completed throughout the program.

 

Sprinklerfitter apprentices must have a high school diploma or equivalent, and be mechanically inclined.

 

Sprinklerfitters must perform a great deal of lifting and climbing. They work both in and outdoors, and may be asked to work in confined spaces and/or work high in the air on ladders or lifts. Travel is required
