Ahern Receives Build Wisconsin Award for Milwaukee Facility

Ahern recently received a Build Wisconsin Award from the Associated General Contractors of Wisconsin (AGC). The company won in the specialty contractor category for the mechanical work performed on its recently built Milwaukee facility. AGC annually recognizes projects of distinction in multiple categories for work completed the previous year.

Ahern incorporated numerous sustainable building systems into the new facility, including a rainwater harvesting system that collects, filters, and supplies rainwater for uses such as flushing toilets. Other energy-saving solutions include a solar thermal hot water system and an HVAC system that uses heat recovery and variable refrigerant flows to achieve peak efficiencies. A central monitoring system provides real-time data on energy consumption and comparative savings over traditional energy sources.
