Ahern Announces First Recipient of Michael H. Krueger Memorial Scholarship
President and CEO Tripp Ahern is proud to announce the recipient of
J. F. Ahern Co.'s first annual Michael H. Krueger Memorial Scholarship. The award was established in honor of former Ahern Executive Vice President of Finance and Corporate Services Mike Krueger, who passed away unexpectedly of a heart attack on February 21, 2009. The $5,000 scholarship is available only to sons and daughters of Ahern employees and the funds must be used for secondary education in the fields of finance or accounting.
The inaugural winner is Shawn Anhalt, an accounting student at University of Wisconsin-Whitewater and a summer clerical intern at Ahern. Shawn's mother Terri is a bids and contracts administrator at Ahern, and his father Mike is a journeyman in the Company’s sheet metal shop.
"Mike Krueger's financial skills and dedication to his career had a major impact on the Company. This scholarship is a way for us to honor his legacy," said Tripp Ahern. "Shawn's academic achievements, extra-curricular activities, community involvement, and future ambitions make him a very worthy recipient." BACK TO NEWS
