Zurn partnered with Klein Development to develop a 40,000 square foot 3 story office building, moving their headquarters from Pennsylvania to Milwaukee, WI. Ahern was contracted as a design/build contractor for HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection. The HVAC contract consisted of a central Roof Top Unit (RTU) with VAV boxes, In-floor Hydronic heat, and the installation of a snow melt system. Plumbing consisted of three bathroom groups and work out facility. Lastly, fire protection consisted of one wet sprinkler system and one manual wet standpipe system.
Coordination and weekly construction meetings allowed this project to be completed two months ahead of schedule which allowed Zurn to move in their 120 employees before the target date. Fire Protection fabricated and installed 380 sprinkler heads while HVAC used 28,000 pounds of ductwork. Ahern also installed a web based, open protocol control system.
