As Executive Vice President of Ahern, Jim is responsible for managing and overseeing the Company’s Northern Wisconsin Region which consists of fire protection and mechanical contracting offices located in Menominee, Fond du Lac, Appleton, and Madison. Jim also oversees Ahern’s major projects division.
He received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Construction Administration from the University of Wisconsin – Madison in 1989.
Jim joined Ahern directly out of college in 1989 as an assistant project manager. He was promoted to project manager in 1994, manager of the Water/Wastewater Department in 1998 and in 2001 was appointed to vice president of the Water/Wastewater Department. In 2005 Jim became an Executive Vice President. Jim has been a member of the Management Committee and a shareholder since 2005.
Jim lectures about mechanical systems and construction management and served the University of Wisconsin Engineering School as an Adjunct Faculty Member from 1998-2004. He also served on the AGC-Wisconsin Education Committee during 2000-2002, as well as on the MCAA Career Development Committee from 2002-2012. He currently serves on the board of the North Central Wisconsin MCAA.
Jim serves the local community as a member of the Fond du Lac County Economic Development Corporation. He is a past president of the Fond du Lac Area YMCA board and has helped lead United Way Fund raising locally.
