Are you looking for hands-on experience throughout the full lifecycle of a construction project? An Assistant Project Management (APM) internship is for you!

As an APM intern at Ahern, you may:

• Assist in project pre-plan meetings and the buyout process
• Assist with estimating projects
• Build relationships both internal and external to Ahern
• Learn about and assist with financials such as gross profit projections
• Contribute to the development, communication and management of a formal project plan
• Assist in shop drawings, submittals and approvals
• Observe and participate in the bid process 
• Assist in the change order process
• Visit job sites as needed with a project manager

As a Fire Protection Design Intern at Ahern, you may:

• Participate in a 12-week training program to learn the ins and outs of fire protection design. The program is a combination of formal training, hands-on learning and mentorship
• Assist with designing and drafting fire protection systems
• Visit job sites to complete site surveys; this is a great way to visualize what you will be designing
• Learn to read and interpret architectural plans to understand a space in 3D
• Gain a basic understanding of all required design calculations
• Interact with project manager, foremen, purchasing and shops for design-related inquiries
