Assistant Project Manager
Are you looking for hands-on experience throughout the full lifecycle of a construction project? An Assistant Project Management (APM) internship is for you!
As an APM intern at Ahern, you may:
- Assist in project pre-plan meetings and the buyout process
- Assist with estimating projects
- Build relationships both internal and external to Ahern
- Learn about and assist with financials such as gross profit projections
- Contribute to the development, communication and management of a formal project plan
- Assist in shop drawings, submittals and approvals
- Observe and participate in the bid process
- Assist in the change order process
- Visit job sites as needed with a project manager
Fire Protection Designer
Are you looking for a rewarding career that makes an impact by saving lives and property? We have a dedicated fire protection design internship program that provides hands-on experience, ensuring you will walk away from your internship with a comprehensive understanding of AutoSPRINK and the exciting possibilities in fire protection design. Take the first steps towards a fulfilling career!
As a Fire Protection Design Intern at Ahern, you may:
- Participate in a 12-week training program to learn the ins and outs of fire protection design. The program is a combination of formal training, hands-on learning and mentorship
- Assist with designing and drafting fire protection systems
- Visit job sites to complete site surveys; this is a great way to visualize what you will be designing
- Learn to read and interpret architectural plans to understand a space in 3D
- Gain a basic understanding of all required design calculations
- Interact with project manager, foremen, purchasing and shops for design-related inquiries
