Apprenticeships

We offer a wide range of pre-apprenticeships and apprenticeships opportunities geared toward helping you gain the necessary skills for a registered apprenticeship in the HVAC/Sheet Metal, Plumbing, Steamfitting, Pipe Fabrication and Fire Protection Trades. Apprenticeship opportunities combine coursework, on-the-job training, and work experience alongside industry experts. All of our pre-apprentices and apprentices are given the tools to build their skills with the opportunity for furthering their career at Ahern.

Skilled Trades & Craft

We are always hiring for experienced field roles in HVAC/Sheet Metal, Plumbing, Steamfitting, Pipe Fabrication and Fire Protection Trades, we also recruit special hazards, fire equipment and building controls technicians.

Internships

Over 87% of our interns rate their experience with us as well above average. That’s because, at Ahern, we ensure that your learning in the classroom is being put to use in the workplace on active jobs and projects. Each year, Ahern will employ over 20 interns.

FEATUREDINTERNSHIPS

Supply Chain Interns

You’ll be involved in a variety of projects of spanning Purchasing, Fleet and Supply Chain administration. While the internship includes day-to-day activities, the main focus would be on projects. Examples include: standardizing contracts, establishing a conflict mineral program, evaluation of electronic logging devices for our fleet, tool tracking and setting up supplier performance scorecards. Typical day-to-day activities could include expediting, managing supplier quality issues, placing purchase orders and pricing. You would be working directly with a variety of team members within Supply Chain group as well as the business units they support. These internships are open to degree-seeking students in a bachelor program in a Supply Chain or related field.

Assistant Project Manager Interns

You can expect to learn how our computerized estimating software works, and how to pull together a finished, accurate estimate. After projects are acquired you will be involved in all phases of managing the work – from requisitioning materials to project meetings and more. You’ll gain exposure to various mechanical systems to include HVAC, plumbing, piping and sprinkler. This is an excellent opportunity to learn from the best in the industry while actively contributing your skills to the successful execution of projects. These internships are open to degree-seeking students in a bachelor’s program in an Engineering, Construction Management or a related technical field.

Engineering Interns

You will learn how to develop and apply engineering standards and procedures to create general engineering plans, designs and cost estimates for HVAC and/or plumbing projects. You’ll have the opportunity to assist with the engineering for projects throughout the State of Wisconsin. You will be challenged by the diverse industry and systems you’ll be asked to work on. You will be mentored under a Professional Engineer. Engineering internships are open to degree-seeking students in a bachelor’s program in an Engineering or a related technical field.

Design Interns

Joining our Design team, you would be involved in the design of a variety of piping systems. You would experience the full life-cycle of design and also assist in matters of estimating, technical interpretation, project coordination, scheduling, and change requests. You will work on real projects and have the opportunity to see a project through from start to finish! Additional opportunities include participating in the sales process, seeing your design installed in the field and working on project close out items. Design internships are open to degree-seeking students in an associates or bachelor’s program in an Engineering or a related technical field.
