Quell fire sprinkler systems are a ceiling-only system designed to protect high-risk environments such as cold storage or unheated warehouses where traditional sprinkler systems may not be sufficient without providing in-rack protection. Quell fire protection systems quickly control fires by releasing a substantial volume of water, using a "surround and drown" method. This approach not only extinguishes the fire rapidly but also lowers heat levels and minimizes damage to the facility and the goods being stored.
The system is tested and designed to have an optimal four sprinklers to be thermally activated by the fire. Additionally, these systems discharge at a significant reduction in time delay, occurring between 20 and 30 seconds compared to traditional NFPA-compliant dry and preaction systems at 60 seconds. This ensures sufficient water volume and cooling is applied to control the fire before it can spread.

A Quell fire sprinkler system offers several advantages over traditional systems. They eliminate the need for antifreeze, reducing the risk of leaks that could damage stored goods. Additionally, Quell systems do not require in-rack sprinklers, allowing for maximized storage space and eliminating the potential of inadvertent operation of the sprinkler system from damage caused during loading and unloading of racks. They also come with lower installation costs and provide effective fire protection for Class I, Class II, and Class III commodities stored up to 50 ft in 55 ft tall buildings.
