Ahern Receives Build Wisconsin Award

VA Medical Center JF Ahern Project

Ahern was recently honored with a Build Wisconsin Award from the Associated General Contractors of Wisconsin (AGC) for its plumbing work at the Clement J. Zablocki Spinal Cord Injury/Disorders Center of Milwaukee. AGC annually distinguishes successful construction projects throughout the state, based on contractors' overall performance to various criteria. Ahern's innovation and problem solving skills were instrumental in meeting the requirements of the Spinal Cord Center, and led to the Specialty Contractor Award. This project, completed in late 2011, evolved into a new 67,000 square-foot specialty treatment center on the VA’s Milwaukee campus. It is one of just 24 national VA centers specializing in spinal cord treatment for U.S. veterans, and the only one in Wisconsin. The facility now includes 38 beds, state-of-the-art training equipment, and a therapeutic greenhouse to bring independence back into the lives of its veteran patients.
