On Saturday, September 27, 2014, six of Ahern’s mechanical service technicians volunteered their time in an annual program called Project “Heat’s On.” The program is organized by the Wisconsin Plumbers & Steamfitters Local 400 Union and serves to assure disabled and/or low income elderly homeowners in Fond du Lac have safe and efficient heat throughout the winter.  The technicians that participated performed preventative maintenance on furnaces or boilers, which ensures they are operating efficiently to keep fuel cost as low as possible. Additionally, heat exchangers and safety controls were inspected and tested to confirm safe operation. Ahern provided two service vans and equipment for the technicians from the Company who volunteered in the program. Outside of Fond du Lac, Project “Heat’s On” covers Brown, Outagamie, and Northern Winnebago Counties as well.
