Jarvis Receives Contractor of the Year Award

On Monday, December 6, the 2021 Contractor of the Year Award was presented to Ahern Executive Vice President Jim Jarvis. The award was presented at the 43rd Annual Recognition & Awards Holiday Dinner, sponsored by the Mechanical Contractors Association of North Central WI Industry Fund, the WI Fox Valley Sheet Metal Contractors Association Industry Fund, and the Insulation Contractors Association of Northern WI and Upper MI Industry Fund.

The Contractor of the Year is chosen by the Association Office staff, led by Jeff Gaecke, Executive Vice President of the Contractor Associations, with input from the Association Boards and Unions. Recipients are chosen for their commitment to the industry and their outstanding accomplishments.

Jim has served the construction industry in almost every capacity. His career started in 1989 after graduating from the University of Wisconsin with a degree in Construction Administration. Immediately following graduation, he joined the team at Ahern as an Assistant Project Manager and has continued to ascend the ranks, now holding the title of Executive Vice President, where he oversees the Major Construction and Madison regions.

Jim currently sits on the Mechanical Contractors Association of North Central Wisconsin board, the Mechanical Contractors Association of Wisconsin board, and the AGC of Wisconsin board.  He served on the AGC of Wisconsin Education Committee and the MCAA National Career Development committee. In the past, he also served as adjunct faculty at the University of Wisconsin Engineering School. Jim has served the local community on the Fond du Lac County Economic Development Corporation, Envision Greater Fond du Lac Board of Directors, and the Fond du Lac Area YMCA.

“Participating on these boards allows us to positively impact our communities and our industry. It allows us to work with others to solve broader issues and find new solutions”, said Jarvis. “MCAA is a great organization that is a strong advocate for our industry, works to improve the relationship between our union and contractor partners, influences policymaking, provides educational opportunities, and encourages competitors to work together for the advancement of our industry. To be recognized among a group of great folks who also serve is an honor.”
