Ahern is happy to announce that Ryan Plaski and Jamie Fort have both transitioned to Fire Protection Superintendents with the Menomonie office. Plaski joined Ahern as a fire sprinkler foreman and most recently held the role of senior services sales representative.


Beginning as a small steam heat and plumbing retail shop in 1880, J. F. Ahern Co. has since become one of the largest, most respected specialty contractors in the nation.  In November, the Company will be celebrating 140 years.

Ahern continues to top various industry rankings, most recently on ones conducted by Engineering News-Record (ENR). According to ENR Midwest’s latest rating, out of the largest specialty contractors in the 11-state Midwest region, Ahern is ranked sixth, two spots up from last year.


Ahern is proud to retain the 50th spot on Deloitte’s prestigious Wisconsin 75 listing. The listing recognizes the contributions made to Wisconsin’s economy by the state’s largest privately and closely-held companies. Deloitte compiles the list in order of revenue.

On August 14, Ahern employees from our Menomonie office volunteered for the Day of Caring event hosted by United Way of Dunn County.

Ahern was named the 2019 Association for Facilities Engineering (AFE) Leadership in Sustainability Award Honoree. The award is one of many that the AFE bestows through the AFE Honors™ program.
