From Youth Apprentices to Full-Time Employees: It’s Signing Day

Appleton, Wis. -- J. F. Ahern Co. is proud to host a signing day event where eight youth apprentices will transition to full-time pre-apprentice employees. The soon-to-be high school graduates, their families, school counselors, shop teachers and supervisors will all be present for the signing – which is similar to a collegiate signing day. There will be two separate signing events on Thursday, May 18:

  • 9 a.m. in Fond du Lac: Five youth apprentices will convert to full-time roles in Ahern’s Plumbing, Fire Protection and Sheet Metal Shops. Shop address for event: 781 Morris St. Fond du Lac, WI
  • 1 p.m. in Appleton: Three youth apprentices will convert to full-time roles in Ahern’s Industrial Services and Pipe Fabrication Shops. Shop address for event: 2111 N. Sandra St. Appleton, WI

As the construction industry faces workforce shortages, Ahern has invested in recruitment with local high schools and community programs to provide the next generation of skilled workers with hands-on training, mentorship and industry exposure. Ahern has more than doubled the number of high school students interested in youth apprenticeship opportunities since last year.
